The Eye of the Storm Foundation is passionately dedicated to educating young adults and parents on the dangers of the misuse, experimentation and addiction to prescription drugs.  This challenge is becoming more prevelant in our middle schools, high schools, colleges and young adult parties and gatherings.

49% of the drug related deaths between 2003 and 2008 in Denver were caused by prescription drugs, according to the CO Attorney General.  https://www.coloradoattorneygeneral.gov/initiatives/prescription_drugs_abuse

In Colorado and 15 other states, drugs now kill more people than auto accidents.  Much of this increase is due to the overuse of prescription drugs.  http://news.injuryboard.com/prescription-drug-deaths-surpass-fatal-auto-accidents-in-15-states.aspx?googleid=271936

Many people are not aware that prescriptions which are stored in medicine cabinets in their homes are highly susceptible to misuse and abuse.   Rates of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. are increasing at alarming rates, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs.

Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet. In addition, many Americans do not know how to properly dispose of their unused medicine, often flushing them down the toilet or throwing them away – both potential safety and health hazards.

This must stop!  The Eye of the Storm Foundation is dedicated to educating, enlightening and helping young adults understand the deadly danger of using prescription drugs out of peer pressure, numbing their internal pain, or just to “try it once” out of curiosity or thinking they are “unbreakable” from the effects of prescription drugs!

The Eye of the Storm Foundation educates through facilitated public presentations, keynotes, clinics, workshops and retreats for young adults and parents.  We will present to any group or organization in the public or private sector that is also dedicated to the education of the deadly dangers of the use of prescription drugs.
